I'm looking for a small restaurant space (preferably one that's not actually being used) to do a short film shoot at the end of May/beginning of June in the Metro Detroit/Dearborn or Royal Oak/Troy area. The shoot would probably take at least four or five days but they can be broken up and scheduled around the property owners (shooting on days that someplace is closed, etc). Does anyone happen to know of any local real estate agencies or restauranteurs who might be open to a film crew using their space? It's a student thesis film with a super shoestring budget so the cheaper the better ^.^

OPEN CASTING CALL:

For the acting inclined, the Motion Picture Institute of Michigan (www.mpifilm.com) will be hosting an open casting call for student thesis projects shooting between May and August on April 16th from Noon to 4pm. I'm directing a short horror/drama film and in need of two lead and two co-star actors.

DAN ARMITAGE, early to mid 30's, a bit out of shape and world weary. Former military. Owner of the failing Armitage Cafe. MALE LEAD, ALL ETHNICITIES, AGE 25-35

MARY FAGAN, early 20's, a petite, almost innnocent looking 'alt' type on the run from her abusive (not to mention undead) boyfriend. FEMALE LEAD, ALL ETHNICITIES, AGE 18-24

DOE, early to mid 20's, a tough punk/biker type. Chauvenistic, violent, possibly even borderline psychotic, Doe is Mary Fagan's abusive boyfriend. CO-STARRING ROLE, ALL ETHNICITIES, AGE 20-25

SARA, late 20's to early 30's, the only waitress at the failing Armitage cafe. Fiercely territorial, she is under the mistaken impression that she's Dan's girlfriend. CO-STARRING ROLE, ALL ETHNICITIES, AGE 25-30

In addition, there are at least six (probably more) other student short films auditioning at the casting session.

NOTE: All MPI student films are unpaid, however actors recieve copies of their films for show reels and are well fed. ~.^

For directions to MPI or more information on the general audition session, call (248) 528-1760.

For copies of character sides/script excerpts ahead of time, to arrange an alternate audition date/time, or to send headshots/photos, email Greg at Azset@yahoo.com

I just stopped in at the Johanses charles gallery (which is run by a guy named Kevin Hansen) on the way home and saw a totally worthwhile art show.

Strong Rastafarian / Voodoo / black roveolutionary themes, its deep stuff, hypnotic and engaging, very authentic detroit weirdness.

the gallery is at 1345 division st in eastern market. The Artist is named Aaron Ibn Pori Pitts, the show is aprently called "E M T Z".

im kinda soul searching for a new friend to be the main co-writer of DelinGquenT and maybe Mass Media Hysteria. but mostly the first title. It covers socio-political topics just to give a broad definition. I'm an anarchist crimethinker from south eastern michigan (twenty minutes outside of ann arbor on seven mile) looking to have zine meetings every now and then to discuss things, generate topic/artistic ideas, distro zines, etc.

Personal politics dont have to agree with mine but convictions are a must. Serious people email me articles at sosagent001@yahoo.com

Hello, joined your community as of today (around midnight infact, so it might be as of tomorrow -heh). Quite interesting to see a
michigan only artist community, very excited to have found and participate in this community.

Spent some time over this week working on a reproduction of a Micheal Kane still from his performance in The Ipkriss Files.
Using Chuck Close's grid technique as I paint. I recommend Close's grid mapping to anyone who works with portraits at any level of constant.

Below are a few thumbnails of my progress, click on them and you will be taken to the larger image.

Into the woods auditions for the motor city youth theater (adult ensemble) to be held next week at the masonic temple (downtown Detroit). This is a non paying gig, but damn it'll be fun.
E-mail me at Margooles@hotmail.com if you'd like more details!
